Tangle Teezer Scalp Exfoliator and Massager
Most of us wash our scalp with our fingertips, and fingertips are blunt. A scalp brush puts lots of small, flexible teeth where your fingers cannot reach, which is the whole idea behind this one.
What it does
Used with shampoo in the shower, the teeth work the lather through to the scalp, loosen flakes and product buildup, and massage as they go. Many people simply like how it feels. Some find their scalp itches less when buildup is cleared more thoroughly.
Buildup, and when a brush is not enough
Dry shampoo, styling products and oil collect on the scalp. A brush helps shampoo reach them. If buildup keeps coming back, the answer is usually a clarifying shampoo now and then, which we explain in clarifying shampoo and the two kinds of buildup.
How to use it
- Shampoo first, then work the brush over the scalp in small circles.
- Light pressure. The teeth do the work. Scrubbing hard can irritate the scalp and tangle long hair.
- A minute or two is plenty, then rinse.
- Rinse the brush and let it dry between uses.
Who it suits
People with oily scalps, anyone who uses a lot of dry shampoo or styling products, and people with thick hair where fingers do not reach the scalp easily.
What it will not do
It will not stop dandruff caused by a scalp condition; that needs a medicated shampoo. It will not grow hair. And it is not a detangling brush for the lengths.
